I am Anne Achieng Onyango,a widow Kenyan woman of 51 years old in age. I work on contract for JKUAT University. I have been running a retail shop in Kisii outskirts, but recently transferred to main campus upon branch closure and now I live in Nairobi. Previous loans from Zidisha held my hand in 2019, now my children are all grown and the last one is in his last year of study so will graduate later in the year. I also recently graduated with Diploma in IT ( Scored a Distinction). I am on with pastry, baking and food production classes. I have one set of a computer desktop and an Epson printer back at home. I want to bring them over in Nairobi, and as an off work project I want to combine IT skills, pastry making, baking and food production skills to start off a private limited company that will offer catering services as well as print media. I can make invitation cards, type set and design quite a number of things including flyers and bronchures, posters, and banners. I feel my time is ripe to venture into self employment and also employ others. I know how to bake cakes, make meat pies, pizza, croissants, sweet mandazis, biscuits and after completing the course I will know how to budget for a specified number of guests and even lead a team to cook and serve them. I have a personality to address people while speaking so shyness is not part of me so I will win many clients. I strongly believe I can create jobs and even mentor many. Starting up this company need me to generate company email at a cost of about fifteen thousand Kenya shillings, do a ame search, and finally register. I have started buying basics, and window shopping for equipment towards the project.

Market in Nairobi is wide, and once established, my next branch will be in Kisii. I have identified possible rental buinesspremises but acquiring them before registering with government authorities will simply put me at loggerheads with them. Help me raise something next to 50 thousand Kenya shillings to help me register and start off. I aim sto start small, since the skills are in my fingertips. I have a brother who will sell for me when I am at work. It's necessary because I have to retire at 60yrs, retiring while not tired, and therefore I project that by that time my business will be vibrant. I am equally enrolling for distance learning in Bsc. Information Technology, so skills learnt will be put into practice immediately as I learn them. God Bless my plan, and all those whom He will fill with the grace to assist me start off. Thank you.

I have a chosen this idea because it is in line with my career choice and I want to take it to the highest level. My time time is ripe to create jobs for the younger generation, and also leave behind a viable inheritance to my dependants, I mean, a legal entity.

I will add more stock of household necessities in my shop. This will include tea leaves, spices, salt, bottled water, sodas, rice, sugar, milk and more. I wish the loan limit was higher than 10,000. All the same, it will boost my shop alot.
