I am the firstborn in a family of 5. I was born in Kiambu County in Kenya, where I studied both primary and secondary education. My father died in 2012 when I was in form 3, one year before completing my secondary education. This was a hard period in my life as my father was the sole breadwinner in the family. Despite this challenge, I managed to go to the university and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Later, I worked as an accountant in a faith-based organization. I currently run three Airbnb houses in Kiambu town. I enjoy reading and listening to music in my free time.
I left my accounting job after developing an interest in travel and hosting. I acquired a van and established three Airbnb houses in a rented property in Kiambu town. Airbnb services are in demand, especially for relatives who accompany their loved ones to the Kiambu Level V hospital. These houses offer them the comfort of home as their loved ones undergo treatment, minimizing the need to travel long distances. My costs include monthly rent which I pay to my landlord, household essentials, electricity, water and internet bills. I use the profit from my business for daily living expenses and giving partial support to my mother, who has no source of income. Sometimes I reinvest some of the earnings in acquiring new amenities such as bedsheets and kitchenware for the Airbnb houses.
I will use the funds raised in this project to purchase Airbnb essentials such as soap, detergents, toiletries, shampoo, and kitchen towels for use by my guests. This will free up some funds and help me cover rent expenses for January with reduced burden. Also, I will use funds that I would have otherwise used to purchase these products to support my mum, who is currently struggling.
