Hello Zidisha family. My name is Nino Wangechi Kamau from Nairobi, Kenya. I grew up in Nairobi in a middle class home and had a fairly normal childhood. I went to an international school which allowed me to interact with people from many different parts of the world. I didn't experience too many hardships but when I was about to start my final year of completing my degree, I lost my father and he was our sole provider, so despite the grieving process I had to remain stoic and started my business which my sister helped me run as I continued with school. The little money I had in my savings helped me begin small and that is how I overcame that situation and proceeded to complete my degree. However I never ended up working for what I studied. I am till date running my business and happy with it. I have a young son who has not yet reached the level of knowing what he wants to be in life. My favorite passtime is watching podcasts while I cook in the evening.

My business is a grocery one. I have a grocery store where I sell essential goods in the name of groceries. The goods I sell are in demand because they are needed everyday in preparing meals and some of them are meals themselves, and everyone has to eat everyday. This is the reason why I chose this business, because it is practical and you can't go wrong. I use the profits to provide food, shelter and clothing for me and my son, and also to reinvest in my business to make it grow.

These funds will help me increase stock in my shop and also do some fumigation to get rid of pesticides that tamper with the vegetables that I sell to my community and beyond. This will minimize loss in the shop and hence profit will increase.
