I am an entrepreneur lady brought up in a home of entrepreneurial parents,my father and mother traded and sold various household items such as basins,kettles and foodstuff.We are six girls and two boys in our family.My sisters and i didnt go to school because my father and his brothers and even their clan considered the education of a girl child unnecessary,as a waste of time.
So i only attended primary school and was helped by an aunt to study secondary school tuition in her house without my fathers knowledge.i later sat for the high school exam and passed and suprised my parents by giving them my results.
Its not been easy in our family as most girls got married early because they were idle and unemployed later on so they opted to be married at very early ages while my father got dowry. I have studied tailoring and now i'm doing a certificate in business in Mandera town.
I buy various items such as wash basins and towels,frying pans and cups and sell them in Mandera town,sometimes i pay a commision to hawkers who take the items in the morning,sell them and return what they havent sold by the end of the day.If not on commission most of the hawkers pay me cash and take the goods then buy more when they come back to my store.I sometimes make 20$ to 50$ in a day or sometimes make only 10$ a week in sales.But it enables me to feed my children,i have three boys and i'm married.
I will purchase 20 basins and 10 kettles.I will earn 1$ profit on each basin and kettle and will be able to sell more variety and also buy more basins, especially the tin ones.I will also be able to raise enough savings to rent an additional space for my shop.
