I am a Kenyan citizen aged 35 years and a father of 3 children. I hold Bachelors of Science in Natural Resources Management from Egerton University and Currently a Master’s Student of Natural Resources Management (Wildlife Option) Awaiting graduation from Egerton University. I have an outstanding background and experience of over five years in Natural Resources Management, Environment Conservation and Research.
My passion for working in the field of Natural Resources, Environment Conservation, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation, , has led me to take on interesting but challenging positions in both public and private realm, and as a result, I have over the years developed a wealth of experience. Whilst I was working as a Naturalist with Serena Hotels, I developed interest in photography. I started with taking wildlife photography which I used to make good slides and presenting to both tourists and students. I went a mile further by going to children orphanage home to impart knowledge about conservation. I am currently pursuing my Masters studies and I also do Academic writing consultancy and photography work.
My business is Photography. I chose this business because of passion I had. Whilst I was working as a Naturalist with Serena Hotels, I developed interest in photography. I started with taking wildlife photography which I used to make good slides and presenting to both tourists and students. Today, I do photography in a variety of fields for example, birthday parties, graduation ceremonies, weddings, institutions’ functions, and family & individual photos e.t.c.
Since I got my first loan from Zidisha and got some new lenses, I managed to widen my niche and my monthly revenuw grew from approximately Kshs 30,000 (USD 330) to approximately Kshs 45,000 (USD 500).
One memerable event I covered was on a birthday party for a 14 years old boy, who had eaten half of his birthday cake a night before the d-day. The parents were so disturbed and it was late...all in all the event was well and my photos were fantastic.
I use this revenue to pay school fees for my children and to support my household. I even revamped on visiting orphange home and showing the youg boys and girls some animal photo.
First is to thank Zidisha and my lenders for the first loan which for sure took my photography business a notch high. I do the photography business and my main clients consist of weddings, birthdays, and corporate functions,. I am humbly requesting for a loan to open a studio within the estate where I stay to as well capture the walk in clients. The price for a new new studio plus setting up and paying two month rent is Kshs 27,000 (USD 300). breakdown (rent is kshs 7000 per month times 2 months= Kshs 14,000 (USD 155) Purchasing a chair Kshs 5,000 (USD 55), a wallpaper installing proper lighting Kshs 7,000 (USD 77). This will for sure boost my photography as i will get many people in the estate. I want to capitalize on the niche; this will for sure improve my accessibility as my clients will always know where to get me. With this photo studio, my business will increase to 2 folds with anticipated profits of Kshs 50,000 (USD 555) per month. I will then also use the profits not only to pay for my children's school fees but also to start mentoring young people with the estate who are interested in venturing to photography. Thank you once again as I pray for a positive consideration for funding my loan.
