I am aged 34, and the second last born in a family of six, where four are brothers and one sister. I am a graduate of Community Development and social work.
I'm from Makuyu, but living in the larger Kiambu county.
My passion is in online remote work, but of late the gigs are getting less. I then developed interest in importing and selling devices such as laptops, phones, and accessories, which has been substituting my income.
Having previously accessed three loans from Zidisha, I utilized them to get better devices to help in my remote work. The impact was very positive.
Things worked out quite well and I was able to service my loans to the last coin.
As I continue to build on the small business of importing and selling phones and laptops, I am optimistic that partnering with Zidisha will enable me to grow and achieve more.
As an online remote worker, I have also been importing and selling refurbished laptops, accessories and phones from Ebay (US). I look for low-priced but good quality gadgets, purchase and import them through a third party shipping company.
I then list them for sale online on platform such as Facebook marketplace, WhatsApp stories, as well as adverts.
This business is purely conducted online, where upon getting a potential buyer, I send them the pictures, we negotiate prices, and to close the sale, I organize the delivery. The payment is made upon delivery.
I am currently in the process of shipping in some gadgets. I will use the Zidisha facility to hasten paying up the shipping dues, which I am short on.
This will enhance and speed my business up, as I at times have to slow things due to finances, especially when sales aren't moving fast enough.
Gradually as I grow the business, it is likely to offer errand jobs to delivery people. This will be of great benefit to a community where jobs are hard to come by.
