I was born in garissa, a marginalised region in kenya.I litrery had nothing growing up as a kid.I had only one pair of cloths and spent majority of my days without shoes.i remember sprinting from tree shade to another tree shade in the hot sand.my mom used to fetch woods and sell them to the locals while my dad worked for the National Youth Service as a plant operator With minimal wage.I joined school at the age of 7years and the following year i was chased away from school by my class teacher and she said to my dad "Your son is very stupid he understands nothing, take him home and bring him back to school when he is old enough to understand." Those are the words my kindergaten teacher said in the somali language, words that ill never forget. My dad took me home and then took me to another school the same day.He bought me only a shirt of my new school since he did not have enough money.I was interviewed in my new school and i failed.I had to repeat from standard 2 to middle class and my dad had no objection. He was ready to see me succeed.I learnt how to read and write and i was number 2 that term. This incident and my desire to give my parents and siblings a better life has been my motivation ever since.
I always wanted to work for myself and earn $2 a day than work for someone else and earn $5 a day.So i teamed up with my high school friends and ventured into the flower industry.I was in a partnership with my friends.we supplied flowers to banks where they will put the flowers in the front office and in the managers office.Unfortunately, the banks stopped buying our flowers citing financial issues and we had to close down 2 months into the business. This was in 2015 when i graduated from high school. It was a good experience and i learnt alot.
Majority of my community members are pastrolist. They love animals.
I currently don't have kids but if someday i have some kids i pray they become entreprenuers
I like playing squach, swimming and playing soccer.
March of this year i started mams store,my objective is to import goods.i.e. broken heart necklaces, bracelet. This jewelery will have space to engrave words that customers themselves will choose. The aim of this is to improve relationships between couples, siblings and friends.
I wanted to send my girlfriend something unique and broken heart necklace came to my mind but i was unable to find any in the jewelry stores,so i went to the guys who operate lazor machines and i asked them to make me a broken heart and the only material their machine could operate on was a plasti. And i thought to myself this is an opportunity i should explore.I imported few units and sold them on facebook and the response was tremendous.
It cost me a total of $109.10to buy 70 units. I sold them for $5 each. And a total of $350.i used the profits for inventory and i also used it to pay for my school fees since i am a student at the university of nairobi persuing bachelor of commerce.
This money will be used to buy inventory. It will also cater for the shipping cost. The remaining amount will be used for marketing.Through social media, posters and banners.
