My name is Ibrahim Dika i was born and raised in Moyale. Am the firstborn in a family of three that is my mother and younger brother. I was raised by a single mother after my father ran away. At my early age as i can remember life was not all that rosy as my mother had to raise both me and my brother by herself...and being she didnt have any work made it more difficult. I was on and off fro school since my mother couldnt afford to pay the school fees and most of the time we could go to bed hungry hoping for very little to the morrow. At the age of 12 i had to drop out of school completely so i decided to be a hawker to help my family. I carried boiled eggs around selling to people in bars ,streets anywhere you name all day and night. I could save some money aside as i had hoped to start an electronic shop but it wasn't that easy as i had now to take care of my family and i really needed my younger brother to get a good education. I did struggle, i worked hard managed to save a reasonable sum of money to open a ladies shoes business. Now at the age of 18 i had my own shop i moved to Nairobi as i really needed to buy my stocks from Gikomba market that's the largest market and cheapest to buy such shoes and sell them to make a good profit. Life changed for me and my brother who is still in school now and is actually the one who helped me write this as am not all that educated. Where i live in there aint much employment even if you go to school most people end up doing business. Someday i f i have a family i would love to see my children fulfill there dreams better than i ever did. Be a doctor or lawyer a pilot would fill me with so much joy. I love watching basketball and documentary movies.
I run and operate a ladies shoes business. As we all know ladies love fashion and they would buy and buy more shoes than anything else. I run a shop in my neighborhood. I have a shop that i pay on a monthly basis. I chose this kind of business simply because the products sell regardless of the time of the year as long as you have wonderful stocks. I buy most of the shoes from Gikomba and on a good day i could spend upto Kshs5ooo depending on the availability of the shoes and how smart they look. I normally use the proceeds to pay for my brothers education and my house rent as well food . I also take care of my mother back in moyale if need be. I also do invest back in business though its never enough. I would like to open a shop in town though its proving difficult as i cant manage with my current finances. Hop ill get help as i am a hardworking man.
I will invest the whole amount in my business. With this amount i can buy at least 3pairs of shoes each costing Kshs.300 and sell them making a profit of say Kshs 250 each on every pair. Thats how business is i make less profit for a longer time. Given that i sell at-least 5 or more pairs in a week i expect my profit to increase significantly.
