This Arthur Mumba, I grow up in sesheke katimamulilo. I was brought up at the united churche of zambia. During school we use to have a session on HIV after class and to me it was just a session. I had this perception that I am not promiscuous so I can't become HIV.

A year later when I was about to write my final exams for grade 9, I was involved in a road accident, I sustained injuries and transmission occurred through contact between broken skins, wounds and blood fluid from a person who was HIV. That's how I become HIV positive.

It was really hard to accept it and I felt less of a person. The hardest thing was opening up to my own people like friends and people I use to cogrigate also school with. With my family there was no change in the way they treated me. It was support from the word go and I did not see any element of discrimination from my parents and my siblings.

Despite the hardships and everything, I didn't let my status decide my future. What even help me a lot is that I joined a healthy management group team were I had to find the need to venture into education.

I am from a poor family and since I did not complete school due to my condition and financial state, I decided to open up a barbershop as a way of helping myself with needs and wants. I never had much equipment needed to open up a medium size barbershop, therefore I worked for some one to raise funds to purchase the shorting equipment and later opened my own and started running it.

I am a barber man who has his own barbershop. I decided to start this type of business because barbing is one of the most profitable business opportunity in our country zambia. The other thing is you do not need much, it just to start with 2 barber machines and a start up capital for rent, chairs, a simple mirror and a table. Customers usually come about every day and some after 1 to 2 weeks.

I make 1000 to 1500 per month and these monthly earnings it depends on several factors including the shop location which is high catching and operational efficiency, henceforth ruffly average I expect to earn is 900 to 1200 per month. And I save money made every month for a better future tomorrow.

I am opening another barbershop as the way to promote my young brother who completed school last year and has nothing to do.

I need to buy essential barbershop equipments such as, stock up on neck strips, gloves and disposable razor blades. These above mentioned items will help me maintain hygiene and make cleaning up easier after finishing the hair cut.
