Banda Erick is my name. I live in Kafue and located in Shikoswe Compound where I grew up. I come from a poor family. Starting school was a struggle because my parents were not in formal employment, hence as a family we were struggling. Hence our up bringing was not something that one can admire. Hence when I reached grade 9, I ended up dropping out of school due to none payment of school fees which my parents could not afford.Things began to change in my life when I started going to Kafue river to catch fish with my friends to raise some funds. God willing a community leader helped me to buy one fishing net to use and that is how I got on my fit and ventured into fish business. Coming to know Zidisha online microlending was through a friend who connected me who is a fully member of the Zidisha community family.
Iam a fish man and I catch fish for sale to the general public.Fish is highly in demand and it is consumed every day and it's demand is very high. I ventured into this business because I do realize good income and it's the same business that helped to over come hardship and start supporting my parents and siblings. I started with 1 finishing net and today I have 5 fishing nets, For one fishing nets it costs ZMW 3500. And I need 10 fishing net which would cost me ZMW 50,000. The more I have the fish nets the more I would catch more fish for sale. The profits made, I have to pay for tuition fees and go back to school and finish my education, support my poor parents and my siblings.
With funds I will buy more fishing nest, ranging from 2 inch, 3 inch 4 inch, 5 inch and 6 inches to catch more fish according to the preferable sizes for my customers. The main is to increase revenue and generate more turn over result in good profits. The profits will be used to invest more in the business and improve the standard of living and pay school fees for my children.
