MY name is samuel, I am a carpenter based in Siaya. I was born in Siaya and after high school i went for a carpentry course which i successfully completed. I went to siaya town where i worked for a furniture house for five years before starting mine. Now i live in siaya town with my wife and two children. I am happy that i took this decision because most of my age mates in the village are hopelessly living and some have died because of drunkenness and bad behavior. God willingly in future i will launch a serious campaign of rehabilitating my friend sand the young people in the village to live meaningful life.
I own a carpentry where i make furniture for my clients. I started this business after i worked for a furniture businessman for five years. I realized i was mature enough in terms of experience to start and grow my venture. My biggest challenge has been competition and lack of capital. But with determination i have been able to make big strides and now with zidisha i will expand my enterprise. I have many customers from companies to households and even schools for furniture. I hope to start a school to train young men on this trade and then employ some that graduate from my school. It will be practical oriented.
In a month i make profits of upto $60 which i use to help my family
Given the loan i will use it to buy more timber for furniture. I will aslo add glue and nails. This will cost me around $50 This will enable me to make more furniture pieces and sell more and even meet more demands of my customers. It will generate more sales and more revenue for my business and family's decent living.
