I was born in rachuonyo. I attended primary and secondary school but didnt make it to college due to lack of school fees. My parents were poor peasant farmers. I stayed with my parents helping them at home with domestic work until when I got married. I am blessed with five children (2 girls and 3 boys). I have been doing energy business since 2013 and look forward to growing the it to a level that I will generate enough income that will improve my livelihood and that of my family. I dream of being the largest producer of improved cookstoves liners in the whole of rachuonyo.
My business was started in 2013.The business deals in production of improved cookstoves liners such as Kenya Ceramic Jiko, Uhai and Upesi. It also assembles complete improved cookstoves using the liners produced and metal cladding bought from artisans in rachuonyo.
The business faces the challenge of an ever increasing cost of production brought about by fuelwood shortage and scarcity of water during dry seasons. This requires one to increase the scale of production so as to lower the costs. Scaling up of production requires additional working capital. Access to capital is also is not easy due to lack of collateral required by the financial institutions.
The loan will be used to purchase clay, firewood, water, metal cladding and to pay labourers who will be engaged in production. The loan will enable me produce additional 2,000 liners a month. This will increase my profit by Ksh.3,000 a month. Because of the additional capital, the business will scale up production hence lower the unit cost of production, increase profitability and serve more customers. This increase in income will enable me feed well and invest in proper housing for the family.
