I grew up in Muhoroni, Kisumu county in the western parts of Kenya. i am the first born in a family of six children. I currently live in Huruma slums with my two children. One is in high school and the other one in college. My husband passed on three years ago and raising the children on my own became an up hill task. That is whey I decided to start a business which makes and supplies liquid soap. I hope to build my business so that I may finally attain financial security and be able to provide all my needs and for the needs of my children too. I especially hope to give them a good education so that they may be successful in life. My entrepreneurial spirit is reflected in the way I have run my business non stop for the last six years.

My business makes and sells liquid soap to clients who include churches, schools, fast food restaurants, hotels and individuals for domestic use. I started the business in 2013 after my husband passed on and I was left with the responsibility of raising my two children, a son and a daughter. My biggest challenge in this business is in finding money to expand it. I am proud when customers get back to me to let me know how satisfied they are with my products. In future I hope to expand this business into bigger soap making factory.

In a month i make profits of upto $180 which i use to pay school fees for my two children

Given the loan I will use it to purchase materials for making and packaging soap. I will buy soap making materials worth ksh 20000 while packaging materials will cost ksh 14000. This purchase will increase my stock and lead to increased sales which will in turn increase my profit. The loan will enable my business to expand through increased sales while my standards of living will improve since I will be able to buy more food and other basic needs for my family.
