I am a mother of four (three boys and one girl), my oldest is married with two children and my youngest has just started secondary school. I am very active in my local Seventh Day Adventist Church, and I participate in the choir. I like singing gospel music very much. I am also active in the local women's group. We make traditional baskets with reeds, sticks, and palm leaves and then add plastic bags for color.
My primary business is as a farmer. I grow maize, cowpeas, sweet potatoes, and groundnuts. I also have a garden where I am growing tomatoes, rape, onions, okra, and pumpkins. I also raise chickens, pigeons, ducks, and cattle. I want to be buying and selling goats and chickens so that I can raise money for my garden. If I could grow different vegetables then others I could be making more money.
With this loan I plan on buying goats and chickens in the villages and then selling them in town. A goat costs 200 kwacha in the village and can be sold for upwards of 700 kwacha in town, while a chicken costs about 30 kwacha in the village and can sell for 50 kwacha in town.
