I was born in 1980 born and raised in kisumu county, i went to Lwala Kadawa primary school, then proceeded to lwala Kadawa secondary school where i did my O level. in the year 2000, i came to Nairobi to search for a job in industrial companies, after searching for 4 years with no avail, i entered into small scale business dealing with second hand clothing, I am married to Violet Atieno, and I am blessed with one son 2 years old, Noel Elshama. I reside in eastland Nairobi, dandora estate. I live in a rented house single room which i pay Ksh.3000 per month, inclusive of other bills. I am a christian born again in 1998. I am the first born of ten siblings. I envisage to a good and responsible father and a husband to the glory of God.
I started doing business in the year 2004, dealing with second hand clothes after being introduced by friends, i sell by going to house to house and street to street to reach my clients. I mainly deal with children's wear and occasionally i sell women's wear, i operate my business in Dandora and Kariobangi. this business has enabled me to cater for my bills and upkeep. after saving for few years, i was capable to do my wedding and eventually family, my wife has also gone to college to take certificate in Early Child Development. I do get a profit of 30% to 200% depending on the type and the condition of the goods i sell. My future plans and desire is to establish a boutique exhibition in Nairobi and other cities. The challenges i have experienced are, lack of resources to expand bad debts from clients who do not pay in cash. since it is a hawking business, it requires personal attention thus limiting me from being diverse and versatile, it is tiresome and weary because i have to walk long distances to reach my clients. I believe through zidisha micro finance, i will get much needed assistance from kindhearted partners so that i can give my family a descent living and a promising future.
Upon receipt of this loan i will expand my business by buying clothes in bulk which is reasonably cheap and selling in wholesale which will attract more customers and hence making more profit not too engaging as opposed to hawking from door to door and will reduce the risk of bad debts because this kind of business i will sell on cash. One bale of jacket clothe goes for $188 thus means i will buy two and the remainder $126 will cushion my business for any eventuality that might arise. One bale is capable to give me a return profit of $30 and putting projection of three bales per week thus translating to $360 per month. This eventually means good life for me and business. THANKS
