I'm a graduate ECD Teacher and mother to 4 boys with a passion for children and their well being. Having worked for over 10 years as an ECD teacher in various learning institutions i also run a small cereals shop with an aim of making extra income.
Africa is a hungry continent and you can never go wrong if you invest in food business. Everyone needs to eat and the escalating rate of rural to urban migration means more new mouths to feed every day.
Cereals Haven - the name of my business - started a year ago in Thindigua, Kiambu County selling Rice: Pure Mwea, Thailand, Pakistan, Sindano, Fivestar, Basmati, Brown Mwea and Beans: Nyayo, Rosecoco, Yellow beans, Mwitemania, Butter Beans, Gituru and Gachuma varieties.
The business makes an average daily income of $15 (KES.1,500) amounting to a gross of $356 (KES.36,000) monthly and a net of $119 (KES.12,000) in profits monthly.
With this initial loan i intend to purchase a sieve used for sorting cleaning of cereals before sale for better appeal to make the customers' happier.
The sieve costs $4.94 (KES.500). This will see my customers purchase more often due to the quality of my cereals and possibly recommend to others and finally increase my sales.
