I have a diploma in Master degree II in economy and international finance. I am married and mother of a one year old little girl. I am Burkinabe, and was born on April 11th, 1984 in Ouagadougou. I made my primary and secondary studies at Burkina Faso and the university in Morocco. I am involved in an association where we collect funds for the orphans and needy children.
I come from a family from 4 children including two girls and two boys; I am the second of the family and at the same time the first girl. My parents are of different backgrounds, and raised us in the love and the respect and the compassion for others.
I am interested in the zidisha project with an aim of creating my own company, and at the same time of bringing a solution to an obvious sanitation problem. I am currently paid private sector, and I hold the position of director as the Operations and projects. I help the leaders of projects to prepare their plan of business and then to obtain financings for their projects.
Burkina Faso is a country in the process of development, which encourages the creation of companies. The climate of business is very favourable with the development of private activity. There exist public and private structures which facilitate the realization of projects through the development of business plans, applications etc….
Unfortunately purchasing power of the people is far below the price of products offered. This is why it is necessary to take as a starting point the local products to aspire to a modernization. It is with that in mind that my project is registered. The essential idea is to use a local manufactoring process of soap, to improve it to obtain from it a higher quality good for health and accessible to the poorest slice of the population.
Today in Burkina Faso the women use the soap commonly called “kabakourou” for the dishes, the household, the laundry and often the toilet. It can be used for many things, comes in different sizes, and is unscented. This soap at a relatively low price on the market since it costs only 300FCFA. It is economical and very effective.
The tradesmen of this soap were going to supply themselves from Ivory Coast but for a few years a certain group of women legally or illegally have started producing it, always at the same price as the Ivory Coast.
The factories have appeared little by litte everywhere in the country and has started to control the market. There is a lot of risk involved in this kind of manufacturing. If the amounts of soda and another ingredients chemical are not controls the soap can prove to be harmful for health.
It is thus to mitigate this growing risk and to benefit from the regulation to come that I have the desire to assemble a unit having international standards for manufacturing soap. That will make it possible for the poorest to continue to profit from the local products with a great price and good market. For the beginning and taking into account the conditions of Zidisha I would make sale purchase until I can acquire equipment and carry out the assembly of the unit.
My project is a company in creation and is primarily based on the marketing of the dish soap which could extend to the manufacturing of other derivatives of this soap. The company will initially have 2 permanent employees who will be in charge of the supply and the distribution of the soap in the various markets and taking care of the details. The sale will be done both wholesale and individually. I.e. that the purchase will be made in Léo (locality to 160 km of Ouagadougou) at the wholesale price 225FCFA or 200FCFA according to the sizes and will be resold to 275 FCFA for the wholesalers and 300 FCFA for the retailers. The Soap “KABAKOUROU” dissolves quickly in water, it is excellent for disinfecting since it is used to wash vegetables and lettuce leaves for salad.
In Burkina Faso it is used much for washing clothes, dishes, in the house, the toilet, and as a disinfectant. The people are fond of it for its virtues but especially because it is accessible to those who don't have much money. This explains the growth of its popularity in spite of the risk of counterfeits. The people know it and use it. There is thus keen a enough demand for this product. Initially the service that I would propose it is only the sale of the soap.
With regard to competition there are many informal soap makers in our territory. The adjoining countries such as the Ivory Coast are competitors but are not competitive any more because the selling price is the same as that from abroad. Taking into account the government regulations, the manufacturing will be regulated, it would thus be necessary to have an approval to produce the soap.
Besides that we already have a customer base which allows us to establish our activity. Beyond the first stage the unit of factory will enable us to offer derivatives of the soap which will have the same properties and which could also be exported towards the adjoining countries such as Niger, Mali etc the activity is known but demand is increasingly more than what is available.
In terms of risk for the first stage it is primarily the price-cutting or the difficulty of recovery of the debts. It is risk are localised on the level of individual sale. Wholesale selling payment is immediate, and is enough to refund the loan. The risk of the detail is reduced by the raising of prices to 300FCFA instead of 275FCFA. One cannot eliminate the risk, zero risk does not exist. But by commercial actions will minimize it.

My activity was vandalized during the uprising on October 30 in Burkina. I would like to rent another shop and restart the activity. I have to renew the stolen stock estimated to 300,000F CFA and the mill to grind the soap estimated to 500,000F CFA. But at first, I will renew the stock to stabilize my cash and then rebuild the equipment. Originally, the project was to transform solid into powder, completely made in Burkina. I'll fight until the project succeeds, regardless of the time it'll take.
