My name is Ruth Muathe from Nairobi city, Kenya. I was born in the village in 1995 and life growing up was not easy but it was interesting and I had a happy childhood. As most people do, I moved to the city to study and build a better future for myself. I now have two children, a boy and a girl who depend on me. They look up to me and say they want to be a doctor and a pilot, respectively. I am a hairdresser and I love what I do and my clients love my work as well. Life may be tough but it is important to look good because a first impression can open doors for you that could be life changing!
My business is a hair salon but I also sell goods there like children's clothes and shoes. I don't have a lot of daily costs, from time to time I have costs for example when a product for washing or oiling hair gets finished, which is irregular and depends on the stream of clients I receive. I also have to buy new bails of clothes every three months or so. The profits I get go to my savings, providing basic needs for myself and my children, school fees and rent among others. I am hoping to get funds from Zidisha in order to buy a new sink seat for my clients because my current one is worn out. I also plan to increase my stock, i.e. hair products as well as new bails.
I will use the funds to expand my business by adding more stock, like braids, hair oils, face and body oils, body and hair sprays and wigs.i will expand my parlor hence creating jobs for more hair dressers and beauticians...hence getting more profit that will build my business and my family,to pay school fees and their maintains will be smooth
