I'm Juliet, but my people call me Julee. I was born and raised in a small highland town of Kwanza, in Trans Nzoia County. I was schooled in a nearby public primary school, a few hundred metres from home, and went to high school just a few kilometres from home.

I lost my mom to a short illness when I was 15 years old. Being the firstborn child, I was left to care for my two brothers. With our dad not in our lives, it has been us and our grandma. Despite the hardships of being an almost total orphan, I stayed focused in school and strived to change the fate of our family.

This is how I started my Micro ISP Venture. The fast pace of internet expansion and the wide gap in access to the internet between the urban and rural setups presented an opportunity to bridge this gap.

Kwanza town is vast and mostly agricultural, and connecting this part of the world to the rest of the world will tap the potential as more ideas flow in.

During my free time, I enjoy watching literature and STEM-related content on TikTok and engaging in similar discussions in other forums. When I am not on TikTok, I'm probably swimming. I am developing skills in Computer Networking.

Chippa is a Micro ISP targeting low-income earners who are unable to subscribe to regular monthly internet packages. We provide a metered wireless network in villages and urban informal settlements where residents are unable to afford internet.

We resell bandwidth in more affordable packages that users can easily subscribe to without breaking the bank.

I chose this business to help connect rural towns with the rest of the world, and help students in polytechniques and campuses access the internet affordably. The business required an initial investment to acquire networking equipment and backhaul internet connectivity and only requires power and backhaul internet to operate. A technician is engaged on a need-to-know basis during network failures.

We purchase 100 MBPS monthly at a rate of KES 500 per MBPS and resell to approximately 50 users monthly, each with an average daily expenditure of 30 shillings. This is less than a quarter of the average internet expenditure.

To optimise costs and improve profits, the business needs to acquire more access points equipment to connect even more users. This will increase the income while the expenditure remaints the same.

The proceeds from this business is reinvested to connect more people and in the future, set up a community center to bring more services to the rural areas and informal settlements.

Chippa Wifi is a Micro ISP focused on providing affordable internet access to remote locations in the western counties of Kenya.

This fundraiser aims to cover the remaining amount needed to expand the Wi-Fi coverage by an additional 150 meters, adding 30-40 daily users to the network.

The project requires a second Access Point, specifically RAP 62 OD, which is currently in use.

Bringing affordable internet access empowers these communities to explore, connect and learn from the outside world, which is important in today's society.
