Am a proud mother of two ;a boy aged 5 and a girl aged2.5. We are one happy family, we love, appreciate and pray for one another, our home is a small heaven. One of my childhood best memories was when my dad told us that we were relocating to the Kenyan Coast. I was so excited like the rest of the family because it was the end of my weird imagination of how Indian Ocean looked or how coconuts looked like. A few days later we moved and it was one great experience meeting new people of different tribes and learning their culture. One interesting thing is the greetings, they vary depending with the time of the day.

The culture shock was too much and as they say if you cant beat them, join them, so we had to learn the local dialect within 2 months and life was easier for us.Since then they have accepted us as part of their community.

I have tried few businesses before but they failed because I did not have the major skills of managing the profits and mostly I could find myself stranded when I finished my stock. I decided to get a job before venturing into another business, my dad has inspired me to start my own business 'side hustle' even if employed. He has been my mentor and consultant. I hope to pass the same to my two children.

My greatest desire is to have a sustainable commercial farming business, animals and crops. I have started small and I love the impact it has made in my life and family, I dont have to wait for my salary every end of the month.

My first loan from Zidisha, I used the funds to start rearing rabbits for meat, which started very well but midway the weather conditions drastically changed and I decided to switch to another business which was growing vegetables and bananas.

My parents have been very instrumental in my life and business and they are the reason why am applying for the second loan.

My parents are in business that majors in education for all classes and stages, from pre-primary to college. They sell examination papers, revision materials and teachers work plans. They have been in this business for the last 12 years and since they want to expand I will use the funds to eject more stock to their business. The reason for expanding is because of the soaring numbers of pupils and parents who are starting to appreciate the value of education and demanding fro more school revision materials.

The expansion will enable them to cater for more students and teachers from far and wide as well as provide quality learning materials.

This business is profitable because returns are 100% or more . The profits from the business are used to pay tuition fees for the less fortunate but hardworking students in different schools. The profits will be used to repay the loan.

Thanks in advance Zidisha because through your efforts to fund small business, people like my parents are in a position to help the less fortunate in the society.

I will use this loan to help expand and add stock to my parents bookshop. Revision books mostly for student preparing to sit for their final exams both in primary and secondary schools, and reference materials for teachers. The prices vary depending with the publisher, the price ranges between 3 to 5 US dollars while the profits are between 6 to 7 US dollars. The examination papers are sold in a set comprising of all subjects where each costs between 0.2 and 0.5 US dollars for these the profits are 100% or more.

The expansion will help cater for education needs for all students as well as ease their revision time as they prepare for their final exams. They will also be able to provide a wide variety of books and revision materials. It will also create employment for one or two people who will be helping in distributing the exam papers to different schools in the region.

The profits will be used in repaying the loan as well as pay tuition fees for the less fortunate, hardworking students in different schools within the region.
