I am Edwin Tembo an entrepreneur in farming buisness. I live in Kabwe, in Chowa township. A town ship rich in fertile land for farming. My ambition was to complete my education and a lawyer, I want to emulate my late Uncle was a High Court Judge in the town of Kabwe, but things did not go as I imagined. The demise of parents made things hard for me and the dream of completing secondary school was halted because there was no one to pay for my schools and most relatives were unemployed. Hence poverty was all over me , I faced hard times and many challenges looking for school fees to continue school and no one could come to my aid. I resorted to struggle hard for shoddy jobs in our community to raise money and over come hardships. being resilent and focused helped me to break through by raising a bit of money to venture into farming of crops such as maize, vegetables from the piece of land my parents left foe us as children on a small scale until , I started growing on a large scale to supply more and generate more revenue. I live in a fertile land and the land is rich for farming of crops and rearing of livestock for sale. In my free time , I take time to read books and attend evening classes to improve my reading skills and how to write better. Gardening is one of hobbies as I spent most of the time working at the farm.
I'm a farmer, I have a farm and mainly I grow maize, vegetables , groundnuts and rice and I rear livestock such goats, cows and village chickens. I need funds to help me buy the spare parts for my Trackerwhich I use when planting and cultivating the land. I intend to expand this year due to high demand, I want to increase the maize crop and groundnuts and produce them on a large scare and the Tracker is repaired it make me achieve my objective in this year farming season. I started this business with initial capital of K3500.00, growing cropson a small scale and after expanding my operation capital has grown to K 35000.00 and I have also created jobs for the youths in our community who are helping at the farm and improved the living standard of my family.
I need the funds to supplement me in buy farming inputs such fertilizer, seedlings, pesticides and weed killer . Which I'm lacking currently . I want to produce a good crop production for both maize and vegetables so that I create more financial generation to support my family and ensure that there is food security for my family.
