Chelly Mukuzho is my family name, I am 50 years old, a mother of four children. I live with all four of my children in Makururu Compound in Kabwe town.

In addition to that I have 3 dependents two nieces and one nephew. My husband died in 2018 and since then I have been supporting my family all alone.

I completed my high school in 2001, and proceeded to attain a Diploma in General Agriculture offered by Zambia College of Agriculture {ZCA} In Monze district Southern Province. I have always loved farming ever since I was a young girl because my late parents were successful farmers who grew and farmed different types of crops. However, due to lack of employment my major challenges, has been start up capital of which through women empowerment fund called community development fund {CDF}, I managed to get the funding and started a small business which supports the well being of my family and support my children to go to school. As you may be aware , living as a single parent it has not been easy but through perseverance and hard work in my small businesses , I am able to meet the needs of my children and pay for them school fees. My prayer is to have my children get the best education for them to have a better future and take up the responsibilities of the family.

I run a faming business of growing maize crops. When I harvest my maize crop, I get them grounded and packaged as maize mill in bags and each is worth ZMW 350.00, depending on my harvest , I am able to sell 50 bags of maize meal amounting to ZMW 17, 500.00.

I choose to farm maize crop because it is the staple crop in the country and maize meal is on demand and most people in our community almost buy every day across the country. The major goal, I need the funds is to plant more crops , so I can produce more maize and vegetables on a larger scale.

However, I need the funds to grow my business as the equipment needed to produce crops on a larger scale will cost more than I currently can afford. Growing my farming business will require larger amounts of fertilizer , pesticides and even farming equipment's such as hoes, rake, wheelbarrows etc.

With the funds I propose to buy the farming Inputs such fertilizer, pesticides and farming equipment that I'm lacking for me to grow more crops especially the maize crops which is the staple food across the country, the more I can grow the maize crops the more I generate more revenue for grow and subsequent support my family and impact my community with maize meal for sale.
