My life journey began in a little remote village in Kenringet, Nakuru County of Kenya. I grew up a normal village kid with a massive ambition to one day be a leader in my community. A vision that I pursue relentlessly to date. I joined a nearby day school called Keringet Primary(Now keringet Township) immediately after the nursery school. At keringet primary I was a brilliant student maintaining positions of between 2 and 5 in our class of 64. I worked hard knowing that I could not afford to gamble with this once in a lifetime chance. I passed well and got a B+ then proceeded to litein through well wishers provisions and came out with an A- then joined Dedan University to pursue a degree in Actuarial Science with IT. Here too things were tough but I chose to be tougher. I graudated and had passed well here too. After school I decided to try my luck in farming as I look for an opportunity for a formal job. I currently do avocado farming and planning to dip my feet in the dairy farming.
My business venture is in farming, agrobusiness and particularly focused on avocado farming. For now I did a lease land which I continue to pay in instalments. Avocado is a fast growing fruit and is very essential for food and also can be processed for its oil. I went for the Hass variety due to its high content of oil. Due to shortage of resources sometimes, I have not managed to produce optimumly. I just had my first havest about 3 months ago and it was fairly good. I chose this business because avocado is good for food and has a ready market. My ultimate goal is to have a bigger farm and specialize in export. The typicall expenses include cost of; land preparation, acquiring seedlings(each @ Kes.450), acquiring fertilizers, Manure, labour, chemicals, prunning and harvesting. Revenue is good, for my first harvest I managed to recoup the initial amount invested. Going forward the fruit trees will bear more going to the 3rd and 4th harvests. I use the profits from the farm to support kids with education and reinvest part of it in the farm. It also supports my day-to-day needs.
