Since childhood, I have been helping my parents on the farm, which has taught me lessons from gaining hand skills and farm knowledge to working hard and never giving up. I believe in farming as it helps in determining the future and will help me reach my goals, i choose it because i want better life for my family.
I am a vegetable farmer, i grow fresh vegetable and sell them in the local market and traders. My plan is to grow cabbage and managu in half acre each as i now have more demand and i cant supply because i currently farm on small piece, i recently got a dmax pickup that has enabled me to acces market easily and lock customers mostly from Hotels.
i choose farming because i grew up on it, i have the passion, land and needed skills to persue and i believe its a good way to earn honest money.
I am asking for support because i now want to go fully and install drip irrigation so that i can be able to meet demand all year round without depending on the rain which this year has prooven to be unreliable. my plan is to plant cabbages around 7000 pieces on one week interval and managu and the price of managu i plan on selling it at 70 ksh per kg while cabbage 15-20 ksh per piece on farm gate, and i will also do deliveries to my hotel customers and local vendors that now depend on me, currently i do deliveries every friday, i will increase it to tuesday and friday before i explore other markets. planting takes around 40,000 from land preparation to harvest. The profits i would like to reinvest it since i dont have family while i set a goal of owning atleast 0ne green house.
Am going to dig a borehole for irrigation which will help me be able to water my vegetables and not depend on the rain. Whith this possible i will be able to farm all seasons compared to now and will help me become sustainable.
