My name is Esther Njogu. I am a sixth born in a family of six from the Kenyan Central Province and in Particular Nyeri county. I lost my mother during my early teenage and I must say it was a big loss because it was the time that every teenage girl needs her mother the most. she had been sick and drained all my fathers savings and this left us with nothing to take us to school. it is at this point that well wishers raised money to take me to High school since I was a bright girl and had acquired a good aggregate to pursue my secondary education.
After high school, i had no hopes of pursuing my most cherished dream, Agriculture, until the Limuru Girls Centre came to my rescue and I was able to purse my diploma in General Agriculture from 2000 to 2002.
since then I have been working in the Kenya Horticulture industry with different companies as a small scale farmers technical adviser. its through this that I have been able to establish my fresh produce supply and farming for the export market.
the main challenge I have is running capital because it requires that I have a substantial amount as running capital fort economic viability.
my main goal is to see small scale farmers sustain their production and produce good quality produce for the export and local consumption.
i issue seeds to small scale farmers as a loan and later collect produce from them and supply to the exporters because I have good connection in the industry. i would describe my role as a market link.
buy 2 support ropes for my farmers. @ 500 per roll making it 1000
I will use the remaining cash to fuel the motorbike for my field supervisor who is always in the field supervising the progress of the crop to ensure the farmers apply the required technical advice.
Future loans will be used to buy more seeds and bring more small scale farmers on board.
I look forward to increasing my production to 2 tons a week from the current 200 kilos.
