My name is Gideon Chilufya a Zambian citizen , I am 43 years old and a mother of 3 girls and two boys . Three of my older kids are each looking out for themselves while I am left with the two younger ones who are still in school. My husband retired in 2023, and is currently ill seeking medical care.
My education background is very poor, I completed my high school but I did not attain tertiary education because of financial barriers. However, I have always been business minded and hard working regardless of my educational circumstance. In my free time , I like to help my two younger kids with their school work and learn from them just to improve my writing and comprehension skills.
Hobbies, I enjoy cooking and listening to local music.
I manage a small hardware and household goods shop that provides the day to day needs of my customers. For my hardware goods, I sell tools as such hammer, screwdrivers, ploughs, hoes, window flames, door flames and steel bars etc. In terms of household goods, U sell kitchen utensils such as pots, pans plates, dishes, rags, spoons, folk and kitchen towels and cleaning material for homes etc.
And the maximum daily income I'm able to make from retail shop is ZMW 1500, when business is I'm only able to make between ZMW 500 and 850 per day. I hope to grow my retail shop to a wholesale shop , where I can provide and hardware and household goods in bulk to other retail shop owners and individual customers, as this will help me generate more income and that is if my business is held with the funds.
I also plan to invest in other business such as agriculture to grow my income , so that I can be able to support myself , the children and the family without difficulties and therefore create employment to youths in our community who just Garavanting the streets today.
Following high demand of hardware goods especially building materials such as steel bars, window flames, glass windows, party, roof seal and iron sheet and for household goods , dishes , pots, plates, tables, chairs and kitchen mats and carpets, these are on high demand during this period of Christmas or the festive season. Should I stocked up these good, I will generate good income and the people in my community will be very happy to have access to building materials and household goods within their door step in our community and create employment to the youths.
