My is Gift Chunga, I live in Nampundwe in Sibuyunji district. I started my education at Twatasha Primary School and completed my Secondary School at Nampundwe Boarding Secondary School. While at school, I was good at Agriculture Science which was my best subject and I got a distinction in my school final examination. I took Agriculture science seriously such that one day I could become a farmer when I complete school. My class teacher taught me that when you take Agriculture science especially in crop farming, you could become a great farmer and the bread winner in my family.
Due to good skills in Agriculture science especially in crop farming such as maize and vegetables helped me to work extra hard and start earning small income when I completed school. Living in a fertile land with available water supply for me, I saw an opportunity to begin gardening of vegetables and growing maize. Little did I realize that I could make good income out it and my dream came true and that is how I came out of hardships and started business in farming project seriously.
Our culture is rich in traditional ceremonies, boys and girls are taught cultural values and the importance of cultural traditional ceremony which helps know where we originated from and where our ancestors came from.
Am a mother of two children and both children go school . The boy wants to become an engineer as well as a farmer like mother and the girl want to become a medical doctor in medicine. During my free time, I love adventure, going for swimming with my children and board cruising in Kafue. My hobby is that I love interacting and associating with friends and listening to slow jam music.
I grow maize and vegetables which I sale to earn a living and for home consumption. I started gardening of these crops and at the time I could not use the farming inputs such fertilizer and pesticides. With time, I managed to buy one bag of fertilizer which could cost me ZMW 850.00. Today am able to buy 20 bags of fertilizer due to good successes in my farming project. At the moment, am requesting for the backers to support me in buying the maize sheller or the combine harvester machine to be helping me as it is harvesting time for maize farming from 2024 to 2025 farming season in readiness for the marketing season. The sheller will cost me approximately ZMW 12,500.00 hence I need additional income to buy this machine to help me in harvesting the maize crop .
Following a good harvest this year, I have a lot of maize at the farm and I need the funds to help me to purchase the maize sheller machine to help me shell the maize properly in readiness for packaging in the 50kg bag and 90kg bag respectively for sale to milling companies and brewery companies. I will generate more income and the funds generated will help me to buy more fertilizer and other farming inputs. In addition to that I will improve the living standard of the farming and provide my community with food by selling them with maize for making mealie meal, sample and stock feeds.
