I am a graduate of Music Education, married with 2 children.. After my graduation in 2012, the unemployment condition of this country got me thinking. I went for workshops and met successful friends who had ventured into commercial tree planting. I started my project with Zidisha and i wish to continue to achieve what i had set as my goal.

My goal is to harvest mature trees after 5 years and get maximum profit from the sales

I plant the South African breed of Eucalyptus trees for commercial purposes in Kericho. My customers are the tea processing companies in the area. After two years, each tree gives me a minimum of 5,000/-. I have a 10 year lease of 8 acres and i wish to continue because i am just in my third year. I spend atleast 20,000 in each acre to plant trees because one acre takes up to 10,000 seedlings. Previously, i planted in one acre because i was not certain about it.

I chose to plant them because the demand is so high and the companies have been going to other counties to source for these trees to use as firewood. I saw this as a window of opportunity and decided to jump on it. If they dont buy the trees, i can still sell them to other consumers who are i need of timber and posts. However, i have established contact and will look forward to selling to them. I want to plant at intervals so that i can have a 5 year supply.

The loan that you will give me will help in finding one acre and the rest will be funded from my savings from the previous sale. The profits have been able to help me take my brother to school, take care of my family and i have also enrolled for a masters degree in Kenyatta University

I have trees that are one year old now planted in two acres of land. I wish to continue because my target was to plant as many as possible. I wish to plant in three more acres so that by the end of 5 years, i will be able to reap big. The first loan assisted in preparing the land and buying seedlings that were eventually planted in the two acres.

I will buy seedlings at $50 and prepare the land at $80. the remaining will be used for other inputs
