I am a young kenya 29 years of age, second born in a family of twelve. my place of birth is murang'a, i have a diploma in agronomy. but i went to nairobi in search of a job. when i couldn't get a job, i landed in muchatha, kiambu county, where i rented a room and after some time got a land on hire for farming. i now have a wife and a boy child. since getting a job has become very hard in our country, i decided to use my skills in farming.
I have rented a half of an acre land in gathanga, about a kilometer from my house in muchatha, for ksh 4000 a year. i plant tomatoes, potatoes capscums, cucumber. currently i wish to plant tomatoes and i have prepared the land already. i plant twice an year. meaning one crop have a six month season, from nursery bed to uprooting. a season crop of tomatoes gives me an average of ksh.20,000.
I also keep planting other seedling at intervals of one month for selling to my neighbours who may not be willing to put seeds in a nursery bed, this also gives me some cash continous cash, of about ksh800 per week.
once i get my first loan, i will purchase tomato seeds worth ksh.6000 and fertiliser, insecticides, plant nutritional nutrients, all worth about ksh.4500. i will then plant the seeds on my nursery bedsat intervals of one week to ensure i have ready seedling always for my clients. i will also ensure that , i have enough for land during the first planting. this will raise my income upwards and from here i expect to have i higher weekly income than ksh.800. i expect to make more saving such that i will be able to hire even a bigger piece of land for a bigger business. i hope to eventually be able to have a weekly profit of ksh.5000 and above from sale of weekly seedlings alone... god Bless You as you purpose to support me.
