My name is Doris Mukiri, am a Kenyan Citizen I live in Nairobi City County, Riruta Setlight estate. It is here that I live and sell maize, sorghum and finger millet flour to the urban dwellers.I am married with two children.
My business is basically dealing with maize, sorghum and finger millet flour. I started this kind of business with my little savings from my former employment.
I settled on this kind of business after I realized there was great demand for maize, sorghum and finger millet flour in the city of Nairobi and its environs. I usually travel to the western part of the country which is the country’s grain basket to purchase maize, sorghum and finger millet . I prefer buying it from these areas because it is cheaper and leaves me with better profit margin. By so doing, I am able to pass the same benefit to my customers by selling the same commodity cheaper than that of my competitors. My business does well because I get good profit margin in which I am able to pay for my monthly bills and salaries for my two workers.
It is also from its proceeds that I was able to purchase a piece of land at maili saba where I am planning to build my own house in the near future.
My challenges
There are a number of challenges that my business face but the most difficult one is luck of good capital to purchase a maize Posho mill which will give me an opportunity to start milling maize, wheat and finger millet flour.
With Zidisha loan I plan to purchase a Posho mill and start milling and packaging the flour in 1kg and 2kg packets which is very popular among the kenyan community and make good profit. I believe with zidisha loan I will be able to achieve this goal.
My vision
My vision is to sell my product to every town in my country and also feed many Kenyans within reach and i know that with the support of zidisha lenders my dreams will come true.
Thanks alot entire zidisha community as you fund me
