I am Kevin Kiiru Kigiri born on 26th March 1994.I am a 4th year student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology undertaking Bachelor of Commerce(Accounting option). I have also done CPA upto section 2 and I am working towards attaining CPA(K). To earn some extra cash for my growth and up keep,I buy tomatoes directly from the farmers and I sell them to the sellers in the market.I therefore act as an intermediary whereby I link up the farmer and seller by buying tomatoes in large quantities from the farmers and selling them to the sellers in the market at a profit.Part of the profit that I obtain I save it and the other part I help out my Mother to buy clothes for her boutique then we share the profit together
At the moment the price of tomatoes has gone high as a result of low production hence they are less in the market. As per now I buy a crate at USD.19 and sell the crate at USD.24 to the sellers in the market. Starting from next month that is August the prices will go down to about USD.4 per crate hence I will sell at USD.6 per crate. In a week I get a profit of USD.17 depending with the quantity of tomatoes I have supplied and the transport cost incurred. That adds up to USD.67per month as profit. The main challenge in my business is the change in prices hence making it unpredictable. If I get the chance to acquire a loan from Zidisha, I will expand my business and start supplying fruits like water melons and bananas and the profit that I will get I will use it to repay the loan in good time. When I am in school my parents provide me with USD.90 per month for my pocket money hence you have an assurance that I will be able to pay you the loan in good time. I hope my request will be considered and God bless Zidisha as an organization.
If i acquire a loan from zidisha I will expand my business of supplying tomatoes and start a new business of supplying watermelons and bananas.By expanding my business the amount of profit obtained every week for tomatoes will increase from USD 17 to USD 34 per week hence i will be able to pay my loan comfortably. On the side of watermelons,100 pieces cost USD 0.2 each hence selling them at USD 0.5 each thus making a profit of USD 34 for every 100 piieces sold.Tomatoes and watermelons combined will give me a profit of USD 68 per week. The remaining profit per week after paying my weekly repayment I will save untill I get a good amount to venture into Banana business.God bless you all
