My name Odia Keita. I was born in 1975 in Kouroussa, a prefecture of North East Guinea. The city of Kouroussa is located on the left bank of the Niger River. In my family, we number 5 children including an older brother who is a driver, an older sister and two younger sisters. My father died 15 years ago. My mother still lives in Kouroussa. I studied until the ninth year. After my marriage of nearly 12 years, I joined my husband in Conakry. Since that time I have had all kinds of small businesses, the most successful trade being thrift stores. This trade does not require large displacements as the merchandise is available from wholesalers here in Conakry.

My company deals with the trade of secondhand clothes. This business involves retailing goods imported from European thrift stores. I buy bales from wholesalers. My specialty is women's clothing, including dresses, skirts, pants and even shoes. These items are much loved by my clients because I always get good quality articles. And it is precisely at this level that is the real problem, because you always have to have liquid funds set aside to qualify for first class items in the new arrivals. Generally profits obtained on the bales are quite good. In any case I can sell 4 bales per month. Each bale can cost 600,000 Guinean francs. I can often make up to 200,000 FG earnings per bale, which provides me a monthly profit of 800,000 FG or more per month. With this profit I can help my husband in supporting the family and I can also help my mother. So to increase my business I ask for this loan from Zidisha.
