Halo. My name is Valentine Chirchir. I am married with two lovely kids. I was born in Kericho to a family of five kids. My parents were tea farmers and struggled with their little tea earnings to take us to school. I was able to study with the help of a few relatives to college level and graduated with a Diploma but jobs were not easy to come by. After getting married , i chose to delve into farming and chose to cultivate vegetables by irrigation in our half acre farm with the support of my husband. My son would love to become a journalist while daughter want to be a teacher when they grow up. I am a big fan of athletics and I indulge in it in my free time.
My business involves the cultivation of vegetables including kales. cabbages, spinach, carrot and tomatoes. on my maturity i sell them to nearby schools ,restaurants and the farm produce market in Kericho. I chose this business as land was easily available and is not so much capital intensive. Costs include the cost of tilling land, hiring man power , buying herbicides , harvesting and transportation to the market. I use my profits to provide basic needs to my children and pay their school fees.
I will use the money to hire motorbike to transport my farm produce to my new client in Kericho town who wants deliveries every weekend. Hiring a motorbike costs 2Usd per trip . This will add me extra revenue and i expect to make an extra 50Usd fro this new client.
