I am Margaret Oketch, a business lady in Eldoret town. My school life or journey can be traced in the following ways. I was a pupil at Kimondi Primary school in Kisumu, went to Kisumu Day High school. After completing my high school education i never managed to join the university because of financial constrains at home. I thus had to quite my schooling and look for money through working for people to enhance my living.
I got married to my boyfriend whom i have been dating for the past 6 years. He was living in Eldoret and now that i had finished school he encouraged me to move in with him to Eldoret. He helped me start a salon business and to date i do that as my business.
The hardest challenge that i have ever experience in my life is when i was involved in a a fatal road accident along the Nakuru- Nairobi high way. I injured my leg in the road accident and to date i am using a wheelchair to work to do my staff. My husband had been so supportive and has offered me help when ever i need one. My business had been able to run well despite the accident and the challenges that i have been going through.
I am a tailor offering all tailoring related work. I make clothes for both genders that's is male and female. i do repair on clothes, i make uniform for students, pupils as well as companies.
I had a passion for tailoring and thus because i never made it to the university, i felt encouraged to pursue my dream of doing tailoring. By and large this is what encouraged me to doing tailoring to this very day.
This services are quite useful and also on demand because i have managed to establish my customers, i also make unique products and thus many prefer to do business with me because of this fact.
I use the profits that i make each day to enhance and support my business. For example, i have been able to hire assistant tailors and pay them on commission, i also use the profits made to support my family and largely make savings everyday.
With a loan of 50 Us dollars, i will add a personal saving of 450 Us dollars totaling it to 500 Us dollars and use this loan to buy an automatic sewing machine.
I will benefit from this because my current condition on the wheel had limited me to doing my work well because i get tired cycling the pedals on one foot.
My customers will also benefit from this because they will be receiving my services quite well like before.
I expect to increase my daily earnings by 40 Us dollars cutesy of the loan and the machine
