I am 30yrs of age and was born in Kisumu County Kenya. I went to Onjiko High School and finished in the year 2003. I thereafter did my Diploma in Co-operative Banking at The Co-operative University College of Kenya. I graduated in the year 2006.

I was employed as a Credit Officer in one of the Microfinance institutions in Kenya where I worked until last year when I quit in order to start my own business.

I left employment to start my business and it has grown since to an extent of enabling me to be self sufficient. I have learnt new ways of doing business along the way through the self training and through my peers. Being self employed has given me a lot of independence. Clothes business thrives in Kenya because the products sell quickly due to high demand.

I was doing well until I realized that I if I get some boost it would enable me to earn more cash and even have some extra money to save. That is when I learned about the Zidisha Lending Program. I decided to try. I am applying for Zidisha loan in order to get finances to expand my business and hence help me cater for my family's needs. I would very grateful to lenders who would volunteer to take me to the next level.

The money will go a long way in helping me add more stock for my business. The business is now worth more than Kshs 200,000 (2,000 US dollars) and I plan to expand it to be worth at least Ksh 1,000,000 (10,000 US Dollars) worth in the next few years.

My target market is women and children and I intend to help them benefit because it will be fairly affordable. Consequently I will able to practice entrepreneurial skills learnt in college. Thank you so much

My business involves selling of new clothes to all types of customers, but especially women and children. The business earns me an average of Kshs 20,000 per month. I started the business with a capital of Kshs 50,000 that I saved while in employment. While most the profits are ploughed back into the business, the rest of the money helps me gather for my family needs. I chose to do clothes business because it has lower risks compared to other businesses in Kenya. It also has a fair margin of profits as well as high demand.

My target market for my clothes business is women and children and I intend to help them benefit because it will be fairly affordable. I use my entrepreneurial skills that I learnt in college, as well as experience I gained while working in the Banking Industry in Kenya. The knowledge has come handy in enabling me to plan, and manage my business in a healthy way.

I also have three dairy cows which I keep on zero grazing. Two cows are now in calf and shall be calving in the next three months. The other one gives me 11 litres of milk on a daily basis. Milk prices at Bomet town, are fairly high, going at Kshs 60 per litre. This means that I earn at least Kshs 19,800 per month from my dairy business.

This loan will go a long way in helping me add more stock for my business. The business is now worth more than Kshs 200,000 (2,000 US dollars) and a turnover of Kshs 500,000 (5,000 US Dollars) and I plan to expand it to be worth at least Ksh 1,000,000 (10,000 US Dollars) worth in the next few years, and I project my turnover to hit Kshs 3,000,000 in the next three years.

I am appealing to Zidisha lenders to lend me Kshs 49,670 so as to help me expand my business and achieve my dream of being a millionaire. While USD 440 will be deducted from the loan to cover for loan guarantee deposit and membership fee since this is my first loan, I will receive USD 50 in cash.

I plan to use this cash buy new of clothes for women and children (under the age of 21 years). This will cost me Kshs 25,000 and use the rest as working capital. I will be able to borrow a larger amount of money from subsequent loans and therefore stock my business well enough. I already have some reserve of 200 dollars that I always keep for a rainy day. I project faster growth of my business especially with more capital injection and management.

My current business is able to raise the weekly installments and hence I will not have any challenge repaying the loan. My dairy farming business will also help me to repay the loan and expand my business faster since I do not have so many commitments. I thank the Zidisha family for coming up with this wonderful platform that connects entrepreneurs with lenders. And I thank all the lenders in advance for walking with me in this exciting journey.
