I am a lady aged 40 years. I was born in eastern province Meru District but lives in Eldoret where i do some business of selling detergents and at times i also sell second hand clothes (Mitumba). I am born in a family of 5 me included. We were raised by a single parent because my mother separated with my father when i was 12 years old.

I am a form four graduate and i did also secretarial classes of which i tried to get an office but i wasn't lucky to get one. It reached a point i got a job in a pharmacy as a messager of which i worked for 5 years and decided to quit and started my business with the little savings that i had saved.

I operate a business mostly of selling detergents. I started b preparing only washing detergents and then met a friend who introduced me to preparing a bleaching agent and selling. I recently learnt a new formula of preparing toilet detergents for cleaning and also for pit latrines.

Now a days the business is expending at fast rate as a result of increaing the many detergents and also the fact that i am puntual in delivering my products to my customers. I make door deliveries to my customers which impresses them and aslo makes them continue placing more orders with me. Recently, i ave started supplying detergents to institutions like schools, hospitals, and therefore this demands some additional capital. As a result of this i started extending credit to my customers and this makes me to attract more customers. Th e major challenge that i am currently facing is lack of enough working capital because of this high demand from institutions. I chose this kind of business , because i can save on rent by doing it directly from the house i live in. I decided to do business because i realised i can make more money in business than in employment. Sometimes i get an LPO of K.Shs 50,000 and my total cost of production until deivery adds up to shs. 28,000. Therefore, such an order would pay me shs. 22,000. I use my profits for general upkeep and paying fees for my children.

I need more capital to increase detergent production in my business.

Due to increased cost of chemicals and increased demand of my detergents, and need more money to purchase packaging and production capital.
