My name is Richard Otieno Nyagol and I live in Nyamware North Sub-location, Kochieng West location. I am married to Margaret Adhiambo Otieno and have eight children. I have been married for 27 years. I am the director and founder of Geneva PLWAS (people living with HIV/AIDS Support Group), which is a Community Based Organization. I started this group because of the many sicknesses and bedridden neighboring community members, to alleviate clinical and nursing care which was becoming a burden in 2006. I started this organization in that same year. I am also a volunteer at Rabuor Health Clinic and help in all aspects of the clinic. My educational background is in Community Health and Development and graduated from Great Lakes University in Kisumu, Kenya. I am certified in Community Mobilization, Coaching and Capacity Building in Public Health.
Geneva is supported by member contributions through a Village Savings and Loan Program. We also established a tree nursery project and raise local poultry for sale. We want to expand our business to include a local nutritious porridge mix called "uji" This porridge is made from or own recipe and will help to feed and add to the nutrition of vulnerable women, orphaned children, the elderly and people living with HIV/AIDS. It contains such ingredients as soy bean, moringa, sesame seeds, millet and other healthy ingredients. The production of this porridge will aid the community but will also provide a profit for my organization.
