I am Ruth Wanjiru I was born in October 2nd, 2003 in Kitale. I was born the second born in a family of six. I went to Matisi primary school from 2008 to 2018 then I joined Tuwan girls high school frim 2019 to 2022. After that, I joined Kenyatta university in Nairobi as an undergraduate for a course in bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry, unfortunately I dropped out after one semester because I lacked funds to continue with my education, I exhausted all the channels where l could get government bursaries and scholarships so I had move back home, After I dropped out of university and moving back home life was quite challenging so decided to look for a job so that I can help out at home and also for myself,in February 2024 I got a job In Nairobi where a worked as a house help where I was earning Ksh6000 per month. I worked form From February,2024 to January 2026 where I was compelled to stop working because I was seven months pregnant. I gave birth to my kid in March 2026, unfortunately the father of my child refused to take responsibilities as a father so I had to take the task of raising my kid as a single mother. This is when I decided to use the money I had saved to start a small shop so that I can get a daily income.

As a child I was raised in Matisi In outskirts of Kitale town where it's predominantly occupied by low income earners.growing up my parents depended on odd jobs to make ends meet for me and my siblings. In our area (Matisi) most teenager especially boys indulge in life of crime because of hopelessness in life. I started my shop in April,2026. My hobbies is traveling, reading novels and watching movies.

I own a small shop which sells basic house hold commodities. I choose this business because I have a small baby who requires less movement and attention, also the shop required a smaller capital as compared to other kind of business and also there are few shops around our area and it makes it easy for people to access the products that they want to use.

In a day revenue is around 8000 which makes a profit of around 700-900 per day. I use my profits to support my kid and my parents, and also I help out under privileged kids especially matters concerning school so that they cannot the path of crime, the small amount that remains I save up so that I can reinvest in my business. Currentlly I require more capital so ,that I can start selling liquified petroleum gas and charcoal which has a high demand in our area which is the main source of fuel for cooking. By expanding my business it will raise my daily revenue thus getting more income

When I get the money i will use it to buy five complete gas cylinders with LPG at a wholesale priceof Ksh4000 which i will later sell at Ksh4600. I will also like to buy 5 bags of charcol which costs Ksh1500 a bag which i will sell in smaller quantities which can make a profit of upto Ksh600 a bag. This will increase my daily revenue thus improving me and my family living standards. I wll also be able to save for my kid future education. I am very passionate about education which I currently support where I can so that they can be empowered.
