I am Monica Kaari Isaac, born in Meru in a family of nine ( three boys, six girls). My our child hood while growing was tough being born in a poor household. My parents were peasant farmers dealing with coffee, bananas to make ends meet. After school I was so passionate working with children because i noted that a lot of children suffer from mental health. I love dancing with children and helping them read stories and listen to music to unwind.
I currently work in a children's home, I noted that the home cannot accommodate each child in the community, therefore i am currently doing also community child outreaches in informal settlements and churches. I engage this children and parents/caretakers in mental health talks and general psychosocial support. A lot of children and parents are facing pressures and stress in life leading to drug abuse, violence and even juvenile crime. I chose this kind of business as a social enterprise as it is helping a lot of people in the community. My typical costs are transport, and need of training materials and aids like a public address system. My profits, are ploughed back into supporting more children with snacks during the trainings, travel logistics, and personal upkeep as well as supporting my old sickly mum.
I will use the funds to purchase a projector that will enhance my visual interaction with the participants making it easy for them to learn. This benefit will will make it effective for me to deliver learnings, I will attract a larger pool of clients which will push my earnings up enabling me to support my family with basics. To the community, am envisioning a more healthier mentally stable community.
