I am a 22 year old university student. I am from a poor family, hence i am raising my fees through my small business. I operate an m-pesa and a cereal shop as well as typing services. Apart from the shop, I also trade on second-hand clothes popularly known ass Mitumba in Kenya. After i completed form four in 2012, i was employed in an a shop where i earned ksh 5000 pa month. I saved 2000 per month and invested in the charcoal and fish business which helped my own my first shop in 2014. After I joined University in 2014, i learned computer basics on my own and started using the skills to earn myself some income. Currently, I type articles for different clients and make at least 500 bob per week. I have been able to buy a computer and start typing services in my stall. Apart from expanding my stock of clothes, I also plan to increase my clothing sales so as to be able to start a cyber cafe mid-next year.

My business is retail. I sell cereals and operate an m-pesa shop. Much of my finances are through savings since i have not been able to get any loan from any organization. I also typewrite and offer other writing services. I mostly use the income from typing to expand my shop. I am also engaged in charcoal and fish trade but this, I do on demand. With the Kes 400 loan i received from Zidisha, i bought a stock of mitumba clothes which i have been selling. Since then my capital for mitumba clothes has risen to 2000 and i have managed to repay the borrowed loan. Zidisha is empowering me and I wish to go greater heights. Zidisha is helping me realize my dream. I have now discovered that am making a substantial amount from selling clothes. Hence, I intend to gretly increase my stock of second hand clothing. This will enable me accumulate enough profits to start a small cyber cafe because due to the increased cost of living in Kenya, an unemployed person like me cannot depend on a single line of business.

With the previous loan of 400 i received, i bought mitumba clothes and added a clothing business into my venture. My capital for clothes is now at 2000 and i even managed to repay the 400. With 630, i will buy additional stock of mitumba clothes and raise my business capital. I am making at least 300 pa week from selling second hand shirts. 630 will raise my business and empower me financially.
