My name is Joseph Hambota, I grew up in the village in chief Liteta area in Chibombo district. Starting school was very hard for me in the chiefdom , where I was living encouraging children to go to school was difficulty, my parents died when I was a baby and grew up with grandmother who was a famer and he did not have any background of education.
Seeing other children going to school , was very painful for me and yet I had keen interest in education because I was growing up a very sharp and intelligent boy. One year later When my grandmother died , I was very fortunate after the funeral the village herdman took care of me and enrolled me in school . I attended school only from grade one to form 2, due to hardship of finances to continue school failed for me, from their I started struggling until I started working as a farm helper just to earn income and that's how I raised some money and enrolled at a driving school in the village , learning how to ride a motorcycle. Because in the village a motor cycle is mainly the main transport to ferry people to different places.
Having acquired the skills of riding a motorcycle and obtained class A, driving license and from the money I was saving while working as farm helper , I bought a second motor cycle and registered it for transportation of people and delivery of goods. Hence it is now the source of livelihood.
During my free time, I take time to go through my children school books and help me myself to read books and I like gardening and growing crops for home consumption . My hobbies is like cooking and helping my family help to do house chores.
I'm involved in motor cycle transportation business and delivery of goods and to ferry people from one place to another. Mainly these are services I provide in the community. In a rural up set of life motor cycle is the main mode of transport and it is on demand, I choose the motor cycle transportation because I generate a lot of money per day.
I start work in the morning and per day If ferry more 10 people I make K 600.00 and per week I make K 3600.00 and the total income per month including deliveries is K 14, 400.00. The funds needed I need to buy motor cycle spare parts and I need to put a box for carrying deliverables to deliver to different places. However, The profit I make, I ensure that school fees are paid for children at school, support my family and home improvement, help the aged in our community by buying them food. Of course impact my community with motor cycle mode of transportation.
I need the funds to buy the delivery box so that customers can carry and deliver their goods how ever more than it use to be . The benefits is that I will be making money more and buy another motor cycle on on hone honest. As the people in our community will helped and appreciate availability of transport via motor cycle ..jjoken
