Childhood and Education

My name is Simon Wachiuri, a father of 6. I was born in Kapsabet and raised in Laikipia Kenya. I studied up to form 4 back in the years during Moi regime. I never proceeded much due to family financial hardship.

Overcoming hardship

I usually overcome hardship by making sure my children achieve what I could not achieve in life. I make sure they achieve quality education by supporting them as much as I can. Seeing them do well in school makes me happy and I always make sure I attain the best for them.

Starting Business

I started farming to support my children in their education. I do crop farming and livestock farming for business. I sell animal products as well crops produce. I am also a driver hence I earn from driving job.

Land and Culture

Where I live most people do the farming. But mostly they do that as cash crops. There is low employment rate hence I want to make employment opportunities.

My Children

My children have goals to be Computer expert, another an Engineer, another a data scientist, another a doctor, another a pilot and the last one a developer.

Hobby

I like looking after my animals and crops. I like travelling and doing new things. I love driving and hence i take my job as a hobby. I am a school bus driver.

I want to expand my business, I want to grow more crops and rare more animals. I want to make sure to meet the increasing financial demand for supporting my children. I am a school driver and at times I do private chauffer services. I choose to be driver because I love it. I love agriculture also and hence I find it really supportive of my financial demands. I earn about 18,000 KES per month as a driver and roughly 300,000 KES as gross from farming. The major costs come from rent and utilities as well as paying periodically for school fees as well as animal and crops care.

I use my profit for reinvesting in farming and supporting my family.

I would like to tear the birds and other animals in future. I need to buy quality feeds for them. I need them to grow healthier and faster. If they get proper feed and nutrition, they will grow and lay eggs. This will be supportive since after hatching I will have more birds in the farm. Later also I am looking forward to start selling eggs and chicken to the market. This will ensure quality supply of meet and eggs. This will increase the income in my household as well as product supply in the community.
