I founded HGFC to connect community focused initiatives to the appropriate grantors and funders. I am lucky to bear witness to the wonderful work accomplished by our network of grantors, donors and supporters. In the past year, I have collaborated with non-profits in Kenya, Sierra Leone, and South Africa to introduce and enhance projects which are geared towards the betterment of the community. I look forward to broadening our scope to reach other founders from all walks of life.
This journey has not been easy. Several times I have had to stop operations due to lack of sufficient funds. I was heart broken to have to let go of 50% of my team because I was unable to sustain them. I remain hopeful because I see that this dream is bigger than me. I invite you to join me in making this dream a reality.
HGFC was established to respond to the urgent funding needs of community focused organizations and grassroot initiatives. The matter of funding can pose a challenge to nonprofits and initiatives that wish to increase their outreach and impact.
HGFC matches organizations to their appropriate source of funding with resounding success. We achieve this through financial consultation. Our team of expert fundraisers and grant managers provide practical, manageable, and innovative strategies for securing funding and managing it effectively.
We have collaborated with non profits all over Africa including Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Kenya where our main operations are based. The number of non profits operating within Africa is projected to double within the next five years. This is in response to global issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Climate Change, Gender Equality, Access to Education, and Universal Healthcare.
We have successfully paired 85% of our clients to their funders. These partnerships have been mutually beneficial for both our clients and investors. The funds have gone into developing libraries, COVID-19 community education programs, and agricultural empowerment across Africa.
Within the next five years, we aim to increase (triple) the amount of funding channeled towards grassroot organizations all over Africa. Within the next 3 years our main focus is to establish a solid foundation of operations within East Africa.
Our clients are underfunded nonprofits and initiatives with a proven track record of positive change. We charge a retainer fee of ksh100,000- Ksh250,000 (approximately USD 1000- USD 2,500). We also retain between 7%- 15% of the total funds raised.
I intend to use the funds to enroll for an online consultancy course which will boost my industry knowledge. It is a 10 week program and this amount will help me cover half of the fees.
