My name is Anang Sumitro, born and raised in a slum area in Ngawi, East Java. I am currently 65 years old and have been working as a pedicab driver (traditional transportation) since I was young. I live alone in a simple house and with one grandchild who is still completing his elementary school education. My goal is to raise my grandchild so that he can complete his education and become independent and work in the future, so that my financial burden of supporting his education will soon be lifted. I only have a basic education and have no work experience other than being a pedicab driver. My hope for joining Zidisha is that my economic life can change and improve because I cannot access bank loan services in Indonesia.
My current business and work focus solely on being a pedicab driver and running a small repair shop for pedicabs. My average daily income is around 50,000 IDR. I specialize in service and repairs, focusing on bodywork and wheel replacement for pedicabs, including modifying engines to use diesel fuel. Currently, my customers often modify the engines and shock absorbers to ensure their vehicles are comfortable for their customers.
The purpose of this loan is to improve and support the education of my grandson, who is still in junior high school (SMP), so that he is not late for school and is diligent in attending school. This also helps to save time and daily transportation costs/education costs. This loan also aims to save on vehicle fuel expenses as part of our commitment to climate change and to prevent air quality from getting worse.
