Sikwati Sandra is my name, I live in Kanakatapa compound in Chongwe district. I am a mother of 3 children. Both I and my husband are retired from active employment. I went to school and graduated as a teacher , having worked for 7 years in the education sector due to disability which started giving challenges when standing in class for a long time. That led to my retirement and looking how life is hard to cope with especially when you children still going to school , I made a strong decision of venturing into farming to start earning a bit funds as way of survival and support my family. Then my good friend connected me to Zidisha and after how it is supporting the entrepreneurs globally, I got seriously interested and applied for a loan .
I spend most of time working on my farm and on my free time , we go visiting and children.
Iam a farmer and have facing challenges on gardening tools. Apparently I use the old plough for cultivating and ploughing the land farming where I grow maize, potatoes, groundnuts vegetables and legume. For me to cultivate the land is becoming tedious for me because the ploughing machine is not working properly. I need funds approximately ZMW 8,000.00 to buy a new ploughing machine at the farm land as this will help me a lot to do more ploughing to cover 5 to 8 hectors of land for growing more crops for sale.
I need to buy a new plough machine for helping me in cultivating the farm land and grow more crops. The old plough machine is not working properly and I need to get a new one because I want to plant more crops especially vegetable crop which is highly selling to market. As such I will make more money by growing more crops because the more hectares of land I would farm the more crops I will grow for sale.
