My name is Ransford Gyamfi, i am 31 years and i come from Dormaa Ahenkro. I live with my wife, my parents and three other siblings and i am the second child. My parents are Mr. and Mrs. Adu Adjei and we worship with the Presbyterian church in Dormaa. I attended Roman Catholic basic school and completed in 2002. I continued to Dormaa senior high school for my high school education. My father was a poultry farmer so i worked with him during my school days especially on vacation and that helped me acquire knowledge about the work as a result i chose to do my father's work. I am married with one child, i wish my child grows up to be a journalist. The food I like most is rice and stew and i like playing football.
I have worked in my poultry farm since 2008, i keep broilers and layers. My products are very useful because i sell my birds and eggs to restaurent operators and other members of my community. I chose to do this kind of work because i realized that the farm and other materials needed to start were available and it will not require a lot of work and also i had much expertise in it. The major cost in my poultry farm is cost of chicken, feeding and the drugs to treat diseases. I support my family with some of my profit and reinvest the remaining in my work.
Poulty feeds has been the major setback in my farm work because it involves much cost and expenses. It is obvious that 50-60 percent of total cost of production goes into poultry feeds as a result i am contemplated making my own quality local feed so that I can lower the cost of production and ensure the fast growth of my chicken. If i am given the loan i will buy available local materials like whole maize, soya, fish meal, cotton seed cake, bone meal and more. This will help me minimize production cost and increase my profit, and i will repay my loan regularly, thank you lenders.
