I grew up in copperbelt province of Zambia in Ndeke village and attended my primary school, after which I was unable to proceed to secondary school. My parents were unable to carter for my secondary education. I therefore began to fend for myself at a tender age making things such as repairing shoes, clothes, etc in order to make my life worth a living. I later got married and now have 2 children who rely on me.
Our business revolves around repairing clothing, sewing new clothes and shoes. We began the business in 2012, in Lusaka moved to kiwe and now to Lodwar. We began this business because we want to use our own talent and innovation to generate a capital for our own machines and eventually run a big tailoring shop. I hope to overcome the challenge of capital for machines in order to set up a proper tailors shop with all the machinery in place.
To purchase an Ironing table for ironing cloths and an iron box which will collectively cost 250 Zambian kwacha and also add more stock of Kitenge materials at 50 Zambian kwacha The balance will add threads. My expectation is to see income increase as I will sell the Vitenge cloths which I will make and increase my monthly income. This will greatly impact my family and business as a whole.
