I am rarely known by the name Margaret Kyeremaa; this is because people normally call me Madam Business. Life has not been easy before the intervention of Zidisha and its noble lenders. I started life in a town called Berekum in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. I completed basic school in one of the schools in the town and furthered to finish secondary school. After completion, and hoping to further the breadwinner of my family, my father lost his job and this led to thinking and stress and later he lost his life as well. It was not easy for our family since none of my siblings was able to finish school. We all started to fight for ourselves in life and relying for success on hope and miracles. I started some petty trading whereby I sell on the streets and to various homes. This led to further initiative to open my small store at a vantage point to attract customers and buyers. I hope to further my education anytime soon since business is picking up now.
Life treated me badly on the part of education, hence I decided to enter into business for survival. In our part of the world, it is difficult to excel in business since there is no motivation and resource development. Business, on the other hand to education, is the establishment of oneself to the benefit of the society, Both the initiator and the environment receives benefit.
My store is located in Berekum, a town in the Brong Ahafo. The specific location is at Kyiribaa where I sell daily consumables like breakfast products, detergents and provisions. These products that I retail to my community are very useful because people use them daily. That is why I have named it daily consumables. Their demand is very urgent, for example: sugar, toilet roll, bread, milk, soap, etc.
Cost and revenue functions are important in establishing how profitable the business is. My capital was very little since I started the business with 1000 Ghanaian Cedis 3 years ago. With the help of Zidisha, I have been able to raise the stock and asset level to 3500 Ghanaian Cedis now. My expenses are: my daily consumables, utility bills and a helping hand I give to my younger brother and sister for their school fees. Some investment has been made with the remaining profit in purchasing of secondhand clothing and reselling it. These clothes are highly purchased in our part of the world. I have started and the business is moving on smoothly.
I wish to state categorically that i need a loan from Zidisha to purchase second hand clothing for resale. In our part of the world, people are interested in second hand clothing
So a loan of 3500 and above will go a long way to help puchase clothing to cover from children, youth, aldult and old age. People in my community harlldly move to market centers for purchase, hence when i get products closer to them will help me alot.
