My name is Tim Kinyua. I'm a Tour Guide based in Nairobi, Kenya.

I have a passion for wildlife, nature and the environment hence I feel most at home whilst doing my job. I'm married and have one adorable daughter who is now 4 years old.

My country, Kenya, is awesome. From a beautiful snow-capped mountain from which she gets her name (Mt. Kenya), to lovely pristine beaches, to a real desert, to a wide variety of animals and rich cultural diversity, I feel very satisfied being a guide in this awesome country.

I run a small Tour Company called Savannah Escapades (www.savannahescapades.com). We offer mainly safari packages where we organize all the logistics like booking the lodges offering transport and guiding services. Occasionally (on request), we organize camping tours.

My passion for nature, wildlife and the environment is my drive. I have been in the business for 4 years now so i mostly try to reinvest most of my profits right back into the business for it to keep growing.

With today's traveler being well conversant with the internet, and hotels taking their marketing to cyberspace through companies like Hotels.com and TripAdvisor, the traditional travel agent is finding himself in a shrinking and more competitive market.

Luckily for me, I started guiding tours and since I have a tour van (a van converted with a pop-up roof for more convenient game viewing), I'm contracted by other small companies, thus complimenting my income.

I have recently acquired a bar, butchery, restaurant and carwash business in Naivasha, Kenya, called 'Ibis Place'; a business with four revenue streams.

In two weeks of operation, the business has already had a turnover of over Kes. 315,000, indicating big growth potential.

There is a missed opportunity though, as many customers have expressed their disappointment at the premises having no television screen, hence they are unable to watch the ongoing football World Cup. Football, including the big European leagues such as the English Premier League are very popular in Kenya. Many people unwind their weekends in such places as our premises to watch football, enjoy grilled meat and drinks. Only yesterday, a group of six (6) customers left to go to another establishment to watch the world cup.

With a television screen, I foresee our revenues increasing considerably, by at least 15%, in my estimation.

A decent 55 inch Smart Television should cost about Kes. 50,000.

With the balance, I intend to install a stable Wifi connection for my customers at about Kes 5,000 - 8,000, and reactivate a dormant CCTv circuit system at a cost of about Kes 12,000.

The sum effect of this would be to keep the customers that we already have, and cement a stable business for my staff of ten (10), and increase the revenue and profit of an already profitable business.
