I grew up in Bungoma County in a poor background. Going to school was a challenge since my parents could not afford steady school fees for my studies. Despite those challenges, I still made it through High School. Today I live with my family in Webuye town. I have a dream to be a famous businessman here in Webuye. I have started a Barber-shop and would want to open some more others in future.
My business is a barber shop. I started this business in December 2013 after struggling with casual labor for many years. I needed steady income however low it was. This would keep my family comfortable and cater for daily expenses including food, accommodation and clothing. My biggest challenge is lack of funding. My customers range from the medium class residents of the neaby estates to the low class residents of the nearby slums and i always make profits of upto $20 per day which i use to help my family. I would want to open a fleet of barber shops and salons at different points within Webuye and its environment. I love this business so much.
Given the loan together with my little savings I would want to buy 2 shaving machines. This would cost me over Khs.7000. This is not enough but want to do one thing at a time. In future, I will purchase some more shaving machines and open other shops. These 3 machines would be used simultaneously with the two employees i have and myself instead of customers queuing to get shaved. This will give higher incomes per day and enable me to pay the operators and electricity bills with ease. I will be able to cater for my house expenses too hence a happier life in my family.
